Homecorp Multi-Residential Development
Construction on Homecorp’s Cienna Varsity Ridge Stage 2 is set to begin in early 2025 and will be delivered by the company’s new multi-residential construction arm, who will also be undertaking all of the company’s multi-residential projects.
The final stage of a four-tower project within the Gold Coast education and technology hub of Varsity Lakes has the go-ahead from Gold Coast City Council. The greenlight paves the way for 289 two and three-bedroom apartments across two towers rising 12 and 14 storeys.
Upscaled plans were filed in March for Stage Two of Homecorp’s Cienna Varsity Ridge project, which spans an elevated 1.3ha site between Bond University and Robina Town Centre.
The project features a range of lifestyle amenities for residents to enjoy, including a large swimming pool, a gym, cafes, a dog off-leash park area, lush gardens, communal dining spaces, rooftop areas and local retail stores. Each apartment will also include car parking spaces and access to bike parks.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing the next phase of Cienna Varsity Ridge to life. This project represents a vital step in addressing the needs of our residents and enhancing the housing supply across the southern Gold Coast. We’ve listened to the feedback received, and in collaboration with the council, developed a proposal that truly reflects the community’s vision for the future,” said Ron Bakir, CEO at Homecorp.
What Is Multi-Residential Development?
A multi-residential development, also known as a multi-unit development, is a property project that involves building more than one dwelling on a single lot. These developments can include apartments, townhouses, or other units, and are often found in higher density areas.
Multi-residential developments can be a popular choice for buyers looking to generate income from multiple units. They can also be a good option for people seeking more affordable housing in a desired location.
Multi-residential living is rising in popularity as Australia continues to grow and expand, and builders embrace the idea of sky-acreage. Having a home close to the CBD or other hub areas, with access to transport, schools, and other social centres, is increasingly important to buyers.
The Duplex
Duplexes are essentially two conjoined properties occupying a single plot of land, sharing at least one common wall. Both dwellings are built at the same time and each home has its own rooms and entrances.
Modern duplex designs offer options for extended family living as well as investors. Thoughtful plans and quality materials ensure these homes do stand out as a “split home” yet offer all the upsides of a traditional home with less outlay and overheads.
The Townhouse
Townhouses are homes that are built side by side and share at least one wall. However, unlike a duplex, a townhouse is generally taller and narrower, and occupies its own plot of land rather than sharing like a duplex.
These multi-residential homes are rising in popularity once due to their affordability with modern townhouse designs delivering sense of urban living without the expense of a large, detached home.
Apartment Buildings
Apartment buildings are generally the most recognisable of all multi-residential buildings.
Traditionally apartment designs have catered for niches like young urbanites, students and those seeking the resort lifestyle. Increasingly modern family-focused layouts are leading more people – particularly families – to also opt for high-rise living.
Sustainable building methodologies mean there is an increasing emphasis on things like solar power and communal facilities. Designers are embracing ideas like green walls, vertical gardens and water management systems.
